LDS Question 7:  Where did we come from?

If you are sincerely interested in the truth, then have a prayer before you read any of my writings in answers to these questions . . . ask your Heavenly Father to let you know if what you are reading is true; because only God knows all truth. And, should you feel that it is . . . then, welcome to the family, let me know if I can be of any further help.

ANSWER:

As some of you may not have read the entire question and answer series, I will recap a bit;

After the vision back in 1820 when a 14 year old boy living in the New York area was confused as to which church he should join. In the area where he lived there were many various churches holding revivals . . . saying “Join us!” . . . “N, join us!!!” ), and the young lad was confused. Then, when he had read in the Bible’s verse of James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” He decided to do just that . . . to ask God. So, he walked into a grove of trees near his home to pray (vocally, out loud, for the first time) to ask the Lord which of all the churches he should join.

Once he did, he was so amazed and overwhelmed at the answer he received to his prayer . . . for, two glorious personages dressed in gleaming white descended from a bright light—above the brightness of the sun—and came and stood above him in the air—for their feet did not touch the ground.They were the Father Elohim and His son (Our Lord) Jesus Christ. One pointed to the other and said unto Joseph, “This is my beloved Son . . . hear ye him.” Then, once Joseph could again gain his composure—after such a sight he did ask the question for which he had come to the grove . . . which, of all the churches, should he join Young Joseph was was then told (from his own words, in part);

“I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said . . . they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.”

So, Joseph obeyed and joined none of them . . . and was given instruction and directions over time as to where to discover golden plates buried in a hillside that were the writings of the ancient inhabitants of America . . . and the prophets who lived among them . . . and the visitation Jesus Christ would make to this land after His resurrection to organize His church here on this land. So that there would be two witnesses that Jesus is the Christ; one in the Bible of Israel, and one in the Book of Mormon from the American Continent. They work hand in hand in testifying that Jesus Christ is theSon of God and our Redeemer.

So, once this all came to pass, the true church of Jesus Christ was once again established in these the last days . . . with a Prophet and the 12 Apostles and, again, with Jesus Christ personally as the head of His church through revelation to His people.

Once this truth was again established, many questions are now answered regarding man/woman and the “Plan of Salvation.” And, one of those is the question of “Where did we come from?”

In our pre existent life (before our birth) we were sons and daughters of God our Heavenly Father and, yes, our Heavenly Mother. We existed in lived in what is called our FIRST ESTATE.  For eons of time we were there as brothers and sisters in our heavenly family . . . continually learning and growing in the realms of understanding and experiencing life as Spirit children. We developed many skills and talents and acquired much knowledge, much like we do here . . . and, like here, we were all uniquely different in skills and learning . . . in looks and manner . . . in tastes and desires, and in understanding and goals. But one major goal we all had was to receive a body of flesh and bones like our heavenly parents and become like them in glory and honor and goodness. But to do that, we needed to be born to an earth like this one . . . acquire our own plysical body.

So, then came the time for our SECOND ESTATE . . . which is our birth into mortality into this world. As I mentioned, we all had "Spiritual bodies," while our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother had physical ones, of flesh and bones.  They had been as we are now . . . they have a body of flesh and bones because they once acquired their physical bodies like we did when we were born.  They were born to an earth similar to ours once upon a time . . . and they had to prove themselves by obedience . . . like we are here to do . . . they passed their Second Estate and therefore are who they are . . . where they are . . . because of it.

Think of this one concept for a minute with me, will you?  . . . Do you know of any living organism that when born, hatched, and or created in any way does not become like the parents? People, animals, fish, insects, amoeba and on and on . . . become like their parents.  Well, so to do we have the opportunity to become like our Heavenly Parents; hence, it is stated in Genesis . . . "Let us create man in our own image, male and female . . . "

So, we came from Heavenly Parents, whom we resemble, and to whom we will return  . . . with bodies like they have . . . IF we past our second estate, here. And we do that by keeping the Commandments and by following our Savior's example and the guidance we receive by our Prophet and Apostles today. All humans who are on the earth now, or have been, or ever will be . . . have passed their first estate; but there are millions who did not . . . but that's a whole other story.

So, to the question . . . 7. Where did we come from?  THIS [above] is from whence we came.
